Town to the North Shore is 60–90 minutes each way on a good day. When the surf is up, Kamehameha Highway becomes the island’s slowest parking lot. Here is how we plan around it.
What the fee buys
The published travel fee — from $75 — covers the drive both ways and the logistics of cooking an hour from the nearest full market: shopping staged in town, coolers packed, arrival timed against the surf report as much as the clock.
